Brett Baureis is a painter originally from the Missouri Ozarks, that currently resides in Central Florida. His work looks to synthesize an interest in the natural world, and a passion for 20th century geometric abstraction. Brett’s primary motivation as artist is in reconciling his aesthetic interests in the organic and synthetic, the representational and abstract, and harmonizing these influences through his painting. Aspiring to create images that are evocative of botanical and geological forms, while maintaining an ambiguity and tension that allows nonrepresentational interpretation. Brett continues to draw inspiration from the unique topography of the Ozarks, and the lush subtropical flora of the Florida swamps and hammocks of which he is presently immersed.
Brett received his MFA from the Leroy E. Hoffberger School of Painting at the Maryland Institute college of Art in 2013.
