 L. Nichols is an artist and MIT-educated engineer who lives and works in NY's Hudson Valley. Their work is primarily autobiographical, focused around the themes of impermanence, gender and queerness. Their photo series, Natural Variations, is a body of work exploring the connection between their body and nature, particularly around the themes of body hair, gender/trans-ness, and seasonality/the passage of time. Their debut graphic memoir, FLOCKS, a memoir about growing up queer/trans in rural evangelical Louisiana, was published by Secret Acres in 2018. It was named one of Publisher’s Weekly’s “Big Indie Books of Fall 2018,” and was featured in the NY Times article “When Comics Writers Defy Gender Norms.”
